Het museum is gehuisvest in het gebouw van de olijfoliefabriek, die toebehoorde aan de familie Tsarlambas, een van de grootste en oudste families van het eiland. Het gebouw werd in 1997 door het Ministerie van Cultuur en Toerisme uitgeroepen tot historisch monument. De oudste olijfoliefabriek werd in de vroege 1800's gebouwd door de voorouders van de huidige eigenaar en was in bedrijf tot midden jaren '70. Aanvankelijk werd de fabriek aangedreven door paarden, later door een dieselmotor en uiteindelijk door een elektromotor.
